Qatar COC Certification

Auto parts, car tires and some electronic products need to provide a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for import clearance when exported to Qatar. The Qatari government has issued a series of strict regulations for auto parts and car tires through the Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Trade (Consumer Protection Department) and the Qatar Organization for Standards and Metrology (QGOSM).

Qatari exporters need to understand these strict regulations for auto parts and car tires and obtain a Certificate of Conformity. Currently, some electronic products are also included.

The local government issued a statement that "controlled products will only be allowed to be imported and cleared after submitting a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued by an authorized certification body in the country of origin." The government also stated: "If the imported products are found not to comply with the Gulf Standards Organization (GSO) standards, the importer will be subject to heavy penalties."

The following products are controlled products included in the implementation of the first and second phases of the project:

1) Auto tires;

2) Seat belts;

3) Rims;

4) Brake pads;

5) Electric fans;

6) Electric irons;

7) Hair dryers

Car tires are regulated products, but currently do not require a separate CoC, as Qatar Customs and Qatar Organization for Standards and Metrology (QGOSM) accept Gulf Standards Organization's CoC instead of Qatar CoC for car tires imported into Qatar.

Each batch of imported goods containing regulated products should apply for a CoC issued by an authorized agency before shipment. The CoC is a mandatory document for import clearance in Qatar and is submitted by the importer for import clearance of regulated goods. The CoC proves that the regulated product complies with the corresponding Qatar/Gulf Standards Organization standard or equivalent international standards.
